The History of Cowboy Coffee
Long before espresso machines and pour over kettles, cowboys on the American frontier were brewing coffee over open fires using nothing but coarsely ground beans, water, and a tin pot. The grounds were added directly to boiling water, steeped, and then settled with a splash of cold water before drinking.
It was simple, strong, and deeply satisfying — the kind of coffee that fueled long cattle drives and hard days of work. Our Cowboy Coffee captures that same spirit: bold, honest, and built to deliver.
How to Brew Cowboy Coffee
The Traditional Campfire Method
- Bring water to a boil in a pot or kettle.
- Remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of coarsely ground Cowboy Coffee per 8 oz of water.
- Stir and let steep for 4–5 minutes.
- Add a splash of cold water to help the grounds settle to the bottom.
- Pour slowly into your mug, leaving the grounds behind.
- Drink it black. Feel unstoppable.
French Press (Modern Cowboy Method)
- Add 2 tablespoons of coarsely ground Cowboy Coffee per 8 oz of hot water (200°F).
- Stir, place the lid on, and steep for 4 minutes.
- Press slowly and pour immediately.
- Bold, rich, and deeply satisfying — no campfire required.
Drip Coffee Maker
- Use a slightly higher coffee-to-water ratio than usual — 2.5 tablespoons per 8 oz.
- Brew on the strongest setting available.
- The result: a bold, full-bodied cup that punches well above its weight.
